http://www.lse.ac.uk/IDEAS/events/events/2012/120306IndiaCricket.aspx

Dr. Ramachandra Guha devoted for the development of cricket in India and made the basis of Indian sport social relationship. Now you will learn about the history of cricket in India. First, it was the Parsis who first stepped inside the field, the Hindus and the Muslims also followed and played. By 1912, the Bombay Quadrangular emerged as the first form of competitive cricket in India where the Parsi, Hindu and Muslim teams took on their European counterparts. For British, Indian cricket might be a key to be against British and make themselves for being one team. As a result, the expectaion of British was too optimistic. Indians make groups of cricket for defeating European incliding British. However, first of all, Indian cricket suffer from the discrimination.Only high caste person played. Dr, Guha asked Gandhi to let the low caste people play cricket. In addition, Dr. Guha explained 4 good reasons to play cricket. First, the narrow streets and gallis where every child first experiences the sport, provide a natural setting . Second, cricket is a sport that doesn’t demand much athletic ability. Almost anyone to participate. Third, the periodic intervals during a match have turned its viewership into a semi-social occasion. And finally, cricket can be the international suspension bridge. Nowadays India has the largest cricket population in the world. This is affected from Dr. Guha’s effort.

Today I would like to talk about Notting Hill carnival. Notting hill carnival is one of the biggest carnivals in the world. Notting hill is the place where is in west London. Hundreds of thousands of people take parts in the carnival and streets are full of crowd. Thousands of people make lines as more than 70 floats, dancers and drummers wind their way through the usually quiet streets of Notting Hill. Their costumes are gorgeous and attractive. It is like that there are a lot of small parties in the streeets. The atmosphere of the carnival is so fantastic and impressive, so there has no big riots since the origin of this carnival. On the other hand, we can say that millions of people gather and it is an unusual situation. More than 6500 police officers are on duty for this and they keep the safety. Last year police said that 86 people were arrested in this carnival.
Londners hope that no one is in a bad way for Notting Hill Carnival. Notting Hill Carnival will continue forever.

The problems of the monarchy

Nowadays, the monarchy is one of the concern topics. Ms.Kakonaishino has aged at 20 years old and the media give us information about her. At the same time, Japanese become interested in “Tenno” ,which is the monarch of Japan. Japan is one of the countries which take the monarchy. A monarchy is a form of government in which sovereignty is actually or nominally embodied in 1 or 2 individuals. Currently there are 44 nations in the world with a monarch as head of state. For instance, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia and Japan take the monarchy. However, The monarchy has a lot of problems. Now, 3 important problems will be talked. One is the fiscal problem. The another one is the family of the monarch are also “people”.  The last one is that the political power is integrated.

First of all, the monarchy has the fiscal problems. We have to spend a lot of money for maintaining the monarchy. For example, this year Japan has spent  about 18,000,000,000 yen for the monarch. In the case of UK, the cost of the monarchy to the taxpayer rose by nearly six per cent last year - more than double the rate of inflation as the royal family bucked the trend for austerity and dramatically increased spending on the upkeep of its palaces. The Queen’s official expenditure from the Sovereign Grant, the amount released from the public purse each year to finance the monarch, increased to £35.7m - a rise of £1.9m on the previous year. The steep rise included a 45 per cent increase in the amount spent on the upkeep of royal residences, including Buckingham Palace and the Kensington Palace apartments of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Royal aides insisted the £36m cost of the monarchy for the last financial year was equivalent to 56p per person in the country and represented value for money. If you had a lot money for citizens, what could you do? You could have a lot of choices to help the citizens by reducing tax, buying the national debt, reducing the social security related cost and so on and using taxes should be careful.

Next, the family of the monarch are also “people”. All men are created equal by Abraham Lincoln. All persons are proved their “Fundamental human rights”. Fundamental human rights contains the freedom of expression, liberty of conscience ,civil rights, society right, right of claim and the right to vote. Then, Can the monarch express free? Can the Japan monarch  become a christian? The answers are No, so they do not have the Fundamental human rights”. It is unfair.

Lastly, the political power is integrated. Monarchy does not automatically translate into totalitarian dictatorship, but a strong king may often attain a position of absolute power through weakening parliament or other representative bodies. In cases such as Philip II of Spain, assassination of opponents was accepted as routine because his advisers told him he was "the prince." During the Reformation, rulers also used their positions for religious persecution in England, France, Spain and other European countries

In conclusion, the monarchy has a lot of problems such as the fiscal problem ,the family of the monarch are also “people” and the political power is integrated.

How difficult the court rules.

Kercher murder: Knox, Sollecito acquittals overturned

This article shows you how difficult the court rules. In this article , mainly 3 persons are dealled. One is Meredith Kercher, another one is Amanda Knox and the other one is  Raffaele Sollecito. In 2007 Kercher is killed at her apartment in Perugia. Police find her a day later. After that, police have searched and arrest Kercher’s US housemate Knox and Knox ‘s ex-boyfriend Solleccito. They are once ruled to be in prisons for 25 years by the court in Italy. However, in 2011 they acquitted because DNA tests were faulty and that no murder motive was provided. . It was a surprising news and became “ fake ” innocent. Then, in 2013 the court examined whether there had been procedural irregularities, rather than looking at the details of the case, and it will announce the reasons for its ruling within 90 days. Giving judgments is difficult and it is important for us to keep both the quickness and deepness of research of police. The another thing we can learn from this article is the problem of a false charge. If victims are innocent, they would suffer from discrimination from the society and have possibility of losing their social positions. Our society have to think about it.
